How will we use technology?
The classroom website is a helpful tool for students and parents. MacBook Airs, iPads, & iPods allow us to use online resources during independent or small group work to research new material or apply content. Our interactive projector allows us to make lectures and note-taking more dynamic. Smartphones/iPods may be used to do exit tickets, review games, warm ups, or group activities. We will strive to have a hands-on learning experience in our classroom, and technology will often be used to make this happen.
Multimedia Non-Consent Information
South Central has invested in new technology to help teachers reflect on their teaching and students to compete in the 21st century. With this technology, your student/student’s work is likely to be videotaped, recorded, or photographed during the school year. The purpose of the above actions is strictly educational and for the benefit of teachers’ professional and students’ academic growth. For example, the multimedia may be used on the class website, as examples of student work, and for the purpose of teacher reflection. These uses of multimedia may be a large part of our class, however, we respect that some parents/students may have privacy concerns. If you object to your student taking part in such activities, you must submit your objection in written form to Mrs. Bridgers.

Above all, individuals in our classroom will…
- Be respectful and polite.
- Be responsible and prepared.
- Obey all school rules and policies.
- You should be in your seat working on the warm up when the bell rings. Additionally, you should bring your notebooks to class every day. Without your notebook, you will not be prepared. From time to time, I will review your notebook for a grade. You will need to keep ALL of your notes.
- The following is the uniform social studies grading policy:
- Tests..........................................................40%
Projects.....................................................20%
Quizzes.................................................... 20%
Homework & Classwork..............................20%
- Technology will be used frequently in this class. You will be encouraged to use your own cell phone, tablet, or laptop, but only at appropriate times. If you choose, you may bring any of these devices to class to use on a regular basis. We will have many iPads and MacBook Airs available in class. Any time a device is being unnecessarily used (i.e. texting, youtubing, tweeting, etc.) or is the cause of distraction, it will be taken away from you for the remainder of the day.
- You should submit all assignments on time. All late assignments will be penalized. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your make-up work. You will still be held accountable for notes and assignments that you missed. All make-up work is due within five days of an absence. After five days from returning to class, you will not be allowed to make up an assignment (including tests & quizzes) unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
- Students should use the restroom before class. Only in the case of an emergency will students be allowed to leave the room. Students will get one bathroom pass per six weeks. If they do not use the pass, at the end of the 6 weeks, the pass becomes an extra credit homework grade.
- Students should not leave their seat during class. To keep disruptions at a minimum, I ask that students raise their hands and ask permission before leaving their seat.
- Plagiarism and cheating of any form will not be tolerated and will result in a zero and disciplinary action. The SCHS Honor Code will be followed precisely.
- Tutoring is available in my classroom every day before school and some days after school. I will announce what days after school tutoring is available on the board and in class.
